Driving Licence for Riyadh KSA ?
Hi All, I will be in Riyadh soon on a work assignment.
I currently have a UK driving licence (former type, without photocard).
Will my UK licence allow me to drive in Riyadh ? Or do I have to follow some process to get a licence in KSA ? Thanks for all feedback.

it is easier to trade in your uk license if you have a photo card license.
The process is simple again most of it is done via your company. you need to go down to the police / traffic dept with your company pro. He will submit your papers for you all the police need to do is to see you in person. mine took about 45 mins to sort out all very simple.
But with out your iquama you are stuck in limbo. Your Iquama is the key to every thing here, And if you lose it OOOOHHHHHHHHHHH big problems.
The new style iquamas are a normal credit card size plastic.
The old ones used to be in a booklet form not user friendly in your pocket. ha ha .

Cheers Coffindodger...
Once a KSA licence is granted from a UK one, is it time restricted ? (I'll be in Riyadh for approx 3 years), or I guess the same process is followed to renew it when it expire ?
And can I still get a KSA licence if I have the old UK (non-photo ID) licence or does it just take longer ?

I suggest that you first renew your UK driving license, then get an international driving license which will allow you to drive temporarily in Saudi before having your Iqama (residential ID card) done and after that you can apply for a Saudi driving license...

Re: Driving Licence for Riyadh KSA ?
So, to summarise for other, as I understand it :
1. UK photocard licence will allow you to get a Saudi Licence, as long as you have an Iqama,
2. If you don't have an Iqama, an International Driving Licence/Permit (IDP) will allow you to drive in Saudi, but this is a temporary licence (not sure for how long it lasts though ?),
