Dossier of evidence for people leaving Dubai

Dossier of evidence for people leaving Dubai
With so few stats on people arriving and leaving Dubai I thought it would be worthwhile to compile some evidence on whether there are indeed large numbers of people leaving Dubai at the moment. Dubai has always been a transitional place but I think there is something different about the sheer number of people leaving this City.
So if you have evidence of people arriving or leaving en-masse please attach it to this thread and we will see how much we can infer from what others are saying. It's important we keep this objective for it to be as close an analysis as we can possibly get. As I said evidence of arrivals or departures would be welcomed.
Here goes with some evidence I found today...
================================================== ========
Today (28th Feb), I visited an insurance firm in Oud Metha to cancel my Wife's car policy. The very kind lady said almost all of her customers had now cancelled because they were returning home largely back to the UK - she couldn't understand it and had never seen anything like it before in Dubai.

Interesting - points. Everywhere I look people seem to be leaving - maybe I've just been here too long!! The posting on the Dubai property crash revealed some excellent insider information you just don't get in any newspaper!

Re: Dossier for evidence of people leaving Dubai
I lived in dubai for about 2 years.
Of my 20 or so closest friends from dubai, 6 left before I left and 6 have left since I left. 8 or so remain in dubai, and of those 4 are leaving in the next year for uk and australia. Nobody has any plans or desire to return, and in all cases leaving was a voluntary decision...

People come people goes... I am sure plenty of new families arriving in Dubai too. Thats the way it goes.
Anyone will give evidence how many new people/families arriving in Dubai?

Re: Dossier of evidence for people leaving Dubai
As Westerners go, I know only one person out of around 10 friends who has been here longer than 5 years.
Of those 10, at least half plan to leave in the next 12 months.
I also know three people who have left in the past 3 months, who just decided to leave at short notice because the financial recompense isn't worth the downsides of the city anymore.

There are definately a lot of people leaving but on the other hand hundreds more are arriving every week. Overall i think it depends on who you talk to and why they came, if they came for money they'll leave for money etc.

Re: Dossier of evidence for people leaving Dubai
Geoff,
Neighbour of mine was working for the Landmark group, spent exactly a year here and returned to India in Dec05 - he found a better job and mentioned he could save much more and have a better quality of life (this being a moot point! )
Then another neighbour returned to Singapore last year - same reasons.
Also, Banks are finding it increasingly difficult to attract good Credit/Corporate Finance people from India, unless you are willing to pay top $$$.
