Default Doha - DVD's, laptop and IPAD

Hi All
I am moving to Doha from London in just under 3 weeks. After getting varied advice I have decided not to ship most of my DVD's and just take a few in my hand luggage.
I was wondering if anyone else has done this and if there was any problems? There is nothing rude, just mainstream movies, predominantly rated PG, 12 or 15.

I also wondered if anyone else has ever taken a laptop and IPAD in their luggage and whether this has caused any problems either in their hand luggage or in their stowaway plane luggage. Any thoughts, very welcome.

Thank you

Hi, we shipped all our DVDs over no problem at all and we also carried as hand luggage our laptop and iPad. Never had any problems at all.

You'll have no problem shipping DVDs as long as there are no overtly religious titles or heavy porn in your collection. We shipped all our PCs and carry IPads and laptops in and out of the country all the time. Never a problem.

TV is pretty dire here unless you enjoy watching reruns at odd times of the day so I'd say bring your DVD collection.

Don't put electronics in stowage - bring your iPad / laptop on the plane with you

you can buy it there, so I would be surprised if it's an issue to ship it

but I'm gathering that you are not shipping, but just flying over? in which case you will be weight and volume limited, so I would try and transfer a lot of stuff to a portable hard disk. xbox might be too heavy.

but if you do have a sea freight shipment, then by all means, bring your xbox

No I am shipping some items and I myself am flying over. My partner wanted to ship our kitchen items.
Thanks for the tip, really appreciated.

ship as much as you can over, within your free allowance - but it's often cheaper to pay the freight than re-buy new, even if you do have to pay for the freight. be aware it takes about 6-8 weeks for freight to arrive from UK in the Middle East, and depends on local conditions e.g. Ramadhan/Eid slow down, strikes (our freight arrived in the middle of a small localised strike at Dubai docks many moons ago), and so on.
