Default Doha British Expat Soiree

On another thread few of the very helpful old hands of Doha offered to meet up with new comers (including myself) and perhaps make it a bit of a regular things if it goes well. This thread can be used for discussion re this meeting and for any others to join in as well.

I am proposing 16th of August 2012 as a date, and perhaps others can suggest a suitable venue? I only know of four season hotel near Qtel tower and will be in Doha in a week's time so not really qualified to suggest any good venue.

Let's get the ball rolling.

23rd will Work for me, though I refuse to go to Four Seasons after spending QR400 on 4 glasses of Vino and surrounded by Eijits. Harp in the Sheraton is a better starting place.

How about we do 30th August then. At least we'll get more attendance and also give plenty of notice for others.

Four Season is the only place I know of (was staying there during interview), but of course we can meet anywhere. Sheraton would work fine for me.

Will the bar be open then? I think it will still be Ramadan. No bars will be open if it is Ryan.

None at all? Not even inside the hotels? Oh well

On another note if you had a whole day to spend in Doha and wanted to do something or go somewhere nice where would you choose?
