Does UAE want me?
Hi
I have been working in Qatar and really enjoying it I was thinking to venture further out into the UAE. Are my chances of getting a job offer in the UAE slim due to the blockade. I am a UK citizen I don't see why it should impact on me but just wanted to know your thoughts.. |
Re: Does UAE want me?
It’s only a bugger to fly in for interviews as there’s no quick direct flights making it doable in a day.
People here have moved to the UAE since the blockade. |

Re: Does UAE want me?
Yeah of course, we're moving people as we speak.
Best bet is to come for two days (for example) with interviews lined up ready. Flying via Muscat is the nicer way, Kuwait is a long trip. |
Re: Does UAE want me?
The blockade does not affect Western citizens looking to change jobs.

Do you recommend setting up meetings with recruitment agencies before coming out or waiting for an employer to respond to an application directly?

What industry are you in?

Re: Does UAE want me?
Your role likely is mostly placed via recruiting firms. Speak to Scamp for possible pointers. The big megafirms and multinationals have their own recruitment teams and this one American I met here in Doha who's in-house for Siemens locally applied via their career sites. But many midsize and smaller firms likely rely on recruiters.
In other words, do both. Apply and contact recruiters. You already have the ever so valuable GCC experience out of the way. |

Personally I'd go direct to companies I wanted to work for but know nothing of your sector. Are roles for in-house Legals normally filled by agencies? If so, hammer them instead of firms. |
