With my move to AD becoming ever closer I'm obviously starting to think about what I will bring with me.

As I plan on doing a lot more diving when I am over there, I'm wondering if in general diving gear is cheaper in the UAE or would I be better off buying some new stuff whilst still in the UK.

Most of my present gear is looking a bit worn and threadbare so I'd probably be replacing most of what I currently own.

Appreciate any help you can proffer.

I wouldn't mind getting into it all again. I only have my PADI open water and will definitely need a refresher but if you need a buddy, it could be a date

i think its actually cheaper back in the UK.
The diving off AD isnt going to be much good as all the construction in Dubai and AD has ruined the vis. You'll have to go to Fujairah or Musandam for better diving.

How far away are they from Abu Dhabi? And final question..... Can you rent equipment over here. I don't fancy shelling out loadsa money for gear and I might only go once in a while.

I'll only really dive around AD just to get wet occasionally, unless there are any sites further up West (Mangrove, Dugong areas). I will definitely plan on Mussandam etc.

I thought it might be the case with equipment, will start shopping online when back in the UK.

Chris, you are more than welcome to tag along - have to try and get the OH qualified but I'm sure I'll be getting wet in the meantime.

yes you can rent equipment.
Fujairah is 1.5 hours from Dubai. so add a bit extra from AD

Cheers, Just been lookin at some websites. It seems a lot cheaper than when I learnt to dive in Cyprus a number of years ago.
