Go for Option A and shop around the 2,3,4,5etc options you have.

You'll find one with a decent dentist who understands the classic sales proverb that you can shear a sheep many times but you can only fleece it once.

I had a similar ordeal in Australia - cost me circa $3,000. No matter where you are, the dental process would (in principal) be the same. Consultation, X ray and deep scale cleaning on a regular basis + optional X ray once the consultant is of the opinion the receding has been halted (3-6 months after initial consultation). I would suggest you get your confidence in one source of contact who sees it through. Possibly seek recommendations or even an effective website and good first impressions of the practice and that the consultant would stay with you during the process.
