One killed last night

One killed this morning after burying the one killed last night.

At that rate of attrition its only 572,000 days and the problem will have gone

I have seen this being reported in international media, but there are also some rumours going round that it is propaganda and that nobody has been killed.

I don't know what to believe to be honest, and I know people living in Jidhafs and Sanabis who say they've seen nothing (and that's supposedly one of the major areas of unrest). I think the conclusion is that on an Egypt scale the protests are pretty piss-poor so far..

What annoys me though is that it appears the Bahraini government has throttled all internet connections. I was getting at most 5kb/s from my normally very good connection last night. This meant that my dreambox was hanging every time it was getting a new key so watching the Chelsea game was challenging (although the game was awful so not much of a loss I guess).

Great crowd control..I wonder if they have tried kettling yet as well. We all see how that worked so fantastically in the UK.
That video is shocking...anyone know their weaponry well enough to confirm that it's live amunition being fired there? Looks like a peaceful crowd full of kids....

Internet has definitely been throttled throughout Bahrain. Al Jazeera and Reuters are now reporting that at least two people have been killed.

Government Ave to Bab al Bahrain closed down for second afternoon in a row. Looks like the government is trying to keep it in the villages where it can be "controlled"

My wife just told me that Bahrain is like a ghost town. She went out for a drive and the whole place is dead (no pun intended)...

Anyway, as long as there is no protesting in Hamala tonight I don't mind too much. If however my football gets cancelled/interrupted as well the internet throttled I might have to do some protesting of my own..

My game is cancelled. I reckon you'd be mad to head up there tonight, the police don't seem to wait around for traffic to clear before they kick off.

I'm surprised it's even mentioned in GDN..it's all rather un-dramatic as always here in the kingdom according to the voice of Bahrain...

There are a number of youtube videos showing heavy handed tactics of the police. I think I'd be pretty pissed off if foreign police officers were trying to control my behaviour in my home country to be fair. Might be time to start thinking about a short holiday really.

My game is in the Batelco grounds, so only 5 mins drive from my house in Janabiya. I'll see what the mood is like when I get home..
