Quick Question:

Any other people out here into cycling or take part in any organised rides

im available for either (kidding)....

is there a club in AD, know there is one in DXB..

Just interested to know of any routes for 50-80Kms avoiding any potential death traps....(Nissan Safari's, blacked out windows) around AD

Im concerned about the safety aspect.... but i have do have a adequate helmet

I cycled everywhere in London, and I really miss it. However, there is absolutely no way I would consider cycling on the roads here. It's just too dangerous.

Have you tried contacting Wolfie in Dubai to see if he has an equivalent in AD?

There's a cycle path all along the Corniche - no danger from traffic there. No idea about a cycling club, despiaca.....

There are a group of cyclists who are always cycling out near the airport (well, on their way towards Al Ghazal Golf Club) early on a Friday morning (about 7am ish).
I pass them on my way to golf, there are probably about 20 or so, and they look like they know what they're doing.
I used to do triathlons in UK and toyed with the idea of joining them, but haven't managed to get up the courage yet.
So, if you're ever out of bed at that time, take a trip and see if you can meet with them.
They seem to go past Officers City area along 30th, and then off the slip road towards Al Ghazal. Where they go after that, i've no idea.
Hope this helps - good luck

There are lots of kiwis(Etihad staff) in KCA&KCB who ride out along Al Gazal .I am sure if you post ADW way,you will soon be hooked up with loads of cyclists.
Also there is a triclub in AD (or used to be)...............
