Curry in Abu Dhabi
Hi guys/girls,
Anyone fancy joining me and a pal of mine from UK for a curry on Mon/Tues night. We hope to get a regular group together that visit different venues in the city on a fortnightly basis.
Cheers
Rich

Haven't been to Kwality, however my secretary reckons it's the most authentic curry house in abdab, she's indian and been here 23 years so prob most qualified person in town to comment!!
To OP, I'm up for a ruby either day, let me know where you book and I'll pitch up.

Also be sure to try out the Ibrahimi Restaurant - it's authentic Pakistani food. The little midget doorman dressed like a Maharajah is like something off the cover of the Door's Strange Days album....
No booze, of course, but the food is like nothing you'd get in your normal tandoori house....

Agree with most of the above, and would also add Airlines, Bhavna and Moti Mahal to the list. Let me know and I'll try to come along one evening too.

Heehee - Moti Mahal always makes me giggle... It means "The Palace of the Fatties" in Urdu....

Moti Mahal (near ADCB on salam), India Palace (salam street),and Ashas (Khalaydia Mall!!) are excellent. Urupi Dupi is pretty good but "basic".

Re: Curry in Abu Dhabi
to be honest, im not fussed whether it's authentic or not, best curryhouse i've ever eaten is Shabaz in Aberdeen, staff are from indian decent, but got an aberdonian accent. i'll let you know what i think after i've had a Jalfrezi!
meantime, will look out for the other recommentations!
have to say though "Kwality" what a shit name for a curry house!

I liked Kwality - it reminded me of my childhood.... And I swear to this day that the Hubara Club made the best prawn cocktail in the world - except for the one my mama used to make....

Kwality are old-school 70's neo-colonial. You can buy Arabic, Chinese, Indian and European from the same menu. Much like the old "clubs" in the Khaleej of the 70's - it reminds me of the Hubara Club in Kuwait. You get similar fare in 3 star hotels in India and Pakistan - I guess you have to admire the versatility of the Indo-Pak-Lankan chefs that learn recipes far beyond their immediate cultural experience. Even the Indian dishes are deeply Anglicised.

Re: Curry in Abu Dhabi
India Palace is great to visit, but dont get home delivery as its takes ages. I like Airlines and Tandoori Corner (or is it Kitchen...never can remember) as well as Arupa Dupi.
I would be up for a a curry but cant make it this week. If you go again, please count me in.
PS - a friend of a friend is the reviewer for Time Out and has just done/doing a section on cheap curry houses. Will try and get some new suggestions from him.

I went to India Palace last night... never had a problem with the deliveries either although I'm pretty close to it.
