Apart from all the excellent documentaries (Great Barrier Reef and Frozen Planet are two recent ones, but BBC-4 is always reliable), decent drama like Sherlock and Doctor Who, and some great comedy (usually on BBC-2 and C4).

What's your idea of a programme worth watching, then (he said, fearing what the answer would be)? There's some great stuff on American TV, but it accounts for only about 0.1% of their total output. British TV is still a long way from being as brain-dead and rampantly commercial as the TV of most other countries.
