Criminal Records and the Middle East
 

Here's a simple question...

If I have a criminal record, can I work in the middle east?

Most of the application processes I have seen have a criminal records declaration; yes or no. I am a little tempted to lie and say 'no' so that I am not discriminated against. As far as I know, Mddle east immigration does not check for a criminal history. Can anybody tell me different?

Discrminated against? You have a criminal record!! Are you saying that the UAE has an unfair prejudice solely because you have broken a law in your country??

It depends on the Country - some ask for Police Clearance Certificates.

If thats the case, he should know what the inside of Central jail looks like...

He can then make an informed decision as to whether the ambience in there would suit him...

Better still, claim he's an Emirati, then none of those potential crimes would be a problem... Well, if there's a death involved, then a few months of prison food till Ramadan, and the quiet little Mo pardon....

Most companies run an independent background check so be sure your sins will find you out!

you can get away with drink driving though as long as you wait until the ban is over
