Crecit cards over here
been speaking to someone about getting a Mushref platinum card, it seems a really good deal, apr is 2.39% and I can do balance transfers of my english cards (which are about 15%).
Any reason why I shouldn't do this?? anyone had bad experiences over here?

dunno,
we both have Citibank Skywards cards.
We pay off the visa each month so APR doesnt affect us, but the emirates airmiles do add up...

http://www.airmilesme.com/
or do you mean an airmiles credit card that you acrew say 1mile for every AED you spend?
We use our Citibank one to pay for a lot of our outgoings/investments and general living etc and over the period of a year it does add up quite substantially. Definately it will fly us to/fm UK twice...
So in effect it tops up the skywards miles that i have earned through flying with emirates...all in all it runs into hundreds of thousands....

you sure that is a yearly interest rate? Could it be a monthly rate....? i.e. 28.68%

Calling Captain Spugmieister.... it's monthly - they're devious like that... keep your 15%...
But the Citibank Emirates card is a nice one if you can be diligent and pay off each month...

Absolutely right, the level of training they give these people is abysmal. I had one a few months back trying to convince me that her rate really was 1.5% and when I asked her what the equivalent APR was she had no clue... instead she began teaching me the basics of simple interest. I finally beat it out of her that it was per month, but even then she couldn't tell me if it was compounded through the year... she said that after 12 months it would be 12 x 1.5 = 18%, wouldn't believe me when I told her that compounded in fact it's more like 1.015^12 = 19.6%
Most of these credit card callers think I'm lying when I tell them I'm not bothered by interest anyway and, thankfully, only spend money I already have
