I have heard that to obtain residence visa for Dubai (after buying a free-hold property there), there is a charge in the order of about 1000 UK pounds per visa. Although government will grant 99 years residency, renewal of visa must be done every few years.
Can anyone confirm if there is this charge for renewals? Is there any more information on this?

The property being sold these days is free hold and there is an option for the developer to issue you a residence visa to stay legally in the coutry should u be unemployed. Most people however are employed and are on their company visas (which are residence visas)
As far as i know, there will obviously be a fee for the issuance of the visas u r talking about, and u will need to renew it every 3 years, just like the regular residence visa.
Hope that helps.
Enjoy the site.

As far as I know Emaar charge 5,000Dhs to issue a residence visa, which is valid for 3 years. It costs the same again on renewal. This incluedes Emaar's "administration charge."
