Exactly...a guy in Aramco when I was there worked in Saudi for over 10 years, saved a load of money and got a very nice payoff when he retired....dropped down dead 3 months later from a heart attack.

We try to strike a good balance of saving some money whilst still pissing plenty down the toilet.

life is for living, agreed, but too many people save absolutely zero - every time they have a minor financial problem, it can be a lot more stressful having to build yet more debt to sort it out.

My step-father dropped dead, stepping outta the shower before work, in Muscat 7 years ago.. My mother had finally persuaded him it was time to retire and they were due to return to the UK at the end of that year...

I have sworn since then I work to live, not live to work....

ah me to. My mam got Alzheimers within months of moving to her dream home and retiring, a hard lesson in life was given to me.

I get what you are saying, but I would have preferred to have seen my mam really not worry re her retirement or leaving money to me or my siblings as nothing can replace her being around. Wub
