Cost of living in Duabi - AGAIN!!
I know there have been many post in the past...and there is the link in Wiki...for a family of 4 but this is more specific to my situation.
WE (my wife and I) are moving very soon to Duabi and just doing some finial checks...which i need your help on please
I have been looking at 1 b/r apartment in Dubai around the healthcare city area and im getting them for about 55k to 60k. so that's is ok.
What cost of utility bills am i looking at in such a place? I know it depends on how much usage....but im not looking for specific unit figures...
as my search has lasted only 3 days, can i get an "all bills inclusive" in this price?
Regarding cars....not sure what the procedure is...is there such thing as HP over in UAE, or do you have to get a loan from the bank...? im looking at a small car for a run around...what can i get for 1500-2000 AED per month - is this a reasonable amount to set aside for a car?
Food shopping wise, I have allocated 1200AED per month
there will obviously be other expenses, which i have budgeted for (3k AED per month)
But if you guys could come back and provide some Round about figures...it will point me in the correct direction.
PS - Health insurance is 150 AED per month through my wife job - same cover as she gets

Re: Cost of living in Duabi - AGAIN!!
Water and Elect should be about 500 dhs a month. I would up the food shopping bill to about 1500 dhs a month. As for the car I would lease one until you know you are staying for the duration of a car loan. Remember you go to jail here when you can't pay your debts.

did you manage to get her salary pushed up a bit? I am a tad worried about it to be honest but if you can get a job it will be fine. Leasing cars is easy, I will find out who my friend leases from.

Looks like your wife is qualified to get a job and you are qualified to manage the money she earns from her job

I would double your food bill provision to be honest, cars are the easiest thing to sort out here. it's everything else that is a nightmare

Re: Cost of living in Duabi - AGAIN!!
BC dont forget on an apt there is the housing fee on top of your bill which is 5% of your rent, not sure about villas

Re: Cost of living in Duabi - AGAIN!!
there is also agency fees 5% as well as building cost as mentioned above 5%
Can this be excluded......by negotiation?

1800dhs for an absolute piece of crap....probably with korean tyres.
anything half decent is 2,500dhs upwards.

Yup it is cheaper to buy a second hand car. I saw a 2002 Pajero for 25k - it only has to last a year before it works out cheaper than a 1litre yaris.

Re: Cost of living in Duabi - AGAIN!!
Had thought of buying but I am only here for a few months more so couldn't be ars.ed with the hassle of insurances, risk of repairs etc.
