Cost of computers/electronics in KSA
Greetings. I am relocating to Jeddah KSA later in the year. Can anyone please give me an idea of the cost of new laptop computers, or perhaps direct me to a relevant website? Many thanks.

Check the supermarkets.
Carrefour KSA has its promotion flyers online to download, so you can see what they're flogging cheap. I've noticed lots of Saudis buying electronics in Dubai though.

At the moment, with the UK GBP / SR exchange rate being lower than what it was last year, the comparable costs is higher than in the UK. I'd therefore advise you to buy in the UK - OR wait til later in the year and see if the exchange rate goes up ( last year it was 7.5 SR to GBP ) so it makes it cheaper.
If the rate goes up, then it can be quite cheap to buy out here. At the moment though, as typical and glynster have pointed out, Jarir Bookstore ( several shops in Jeddah ) and the bigger supermarkets are the most competitively priced.

Thank you all for your replies. They are very helpful. Regarding purchasing a second-hand car, with what seems like a mass-exodus of expats from Dubai, is it possible to purchase cheaper vehicles there, rather than in Jeddah? Though I am aware they are a long way apart.

Can't comment on car prices in Dubai. I live in Jeddah ( am there at the weekends ) although I work in Riyadh, so have a look at the expatriate websites for used cars. THere are pages for Jeddah specifically and there will probably be one for Dubai too so it might help give you some comparison in prices.
I have found that cars tend to be fractionally more expensive in Jeddah than Riyadh - maybe there are more for sale in Riyadh so more competitive?
Anyway - here's the web site:
