IT Contractor Rates Saudi

Hi all - i apologise if this has been covered (searched forum and can't find relevant info) so here goes.
Looking at a 12-18 month contract in Damman, i get £500/day UK, what rate should i expect in KSA?
If working in Damman is it feasible to live in Bahrain and how much should rent be for a decent 1 bed apartment with a/c?
What is best option re. car? rental? how much?
Thanks in advance, Jim

hi there,

can't answer the questions directly myself except to point you in the general direction of some advice;
- The Dean's wiki page... brilliant starting point -> http://britishexpats.com/wiki/The_Ul..._to_Saudi_Life
- avis has a desk in saudi (i think it's www.avis.com.sa) -> all advice seems to be buy not rent, but am not sure about that...
- also, accommodation seems to be really tight so I'm guessing that's going to be your first point of call after sorting out your day rate

best of luck!

Hi,

A mate of mine from SA was offered around $1000 per day in Saudi. Not sure how many years experience you have, but he has around 8 yrs - the role was for a Senior Business Analyst. Checkout the forum on www.sainsaudi.co.za - tailored for S Africans, but will give you a good idea about Saudi. Also visit www.expatriates.com for an indication on houses etc. All the best mate.

Cheers mate, i've also 8 years experience so i guess i'm looking at rates similar to UK - Big advantage will be if it runs for full tax year next year :)

Most of the projects last between 9-12 months, so you'll definately score. In most cases you will be asked to stay on, or there will be opportunities at other companies.
