Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and not from the UK but I'm currently considering for an offer to work for a local Bank in Muscat, Oman and hoping I can get some feedback from expats here who have some experience in Oman./M.E

I recently got an offer of following:
Monthly Salaries: Basic 4500 + allowance 3500 = OMR 8000 p.m
1 time Furnishing allowance: 4k omr
School: 1000 per kid / p.a.
Return Flights 1x per year whole family
Bonus was told around 3x basic so 12k omr
Medical included, not sure whats the coverage
End of service gratuity

It will be my first working experience in M.E. I am 36 and we are a family with 2 young kids of 5 & 6 also expecting 3rd by Jan. From what I've read online, it should be sufficient to live a regular lifestyle. I wonder if we can live on 3500 OMR p.m for everything incl rent, live in maid and school fees for kids? I've been reading that utilities fes have increased quite a lot recently.

Lastly, just curious if this salary is bout the market rate for an svp position in a local bank?

Comp is relative to the position you are filling. Is this investment banking?

I think it is a good amount and you would be able to save quite a lot.

I'm confused, if your total is 8000OMR, why are you trying to live on 3500OMR? The answer though is probably, and salary seems about right.
