Hi guys,

I am after some advice (again) please!

I am moving out to Dubai in August, I will be living in Business Bay and working in Silicon Oasis. I have been told by my employer than transportation between home and work will be provided for the first week or so. After our visas have been processed we are then expected to make our own travel arrangements.

Is there a bus/public transport system for this route? Or, alternatively, approximately how much is it to purchase a car (is this even possible with a UK License?)

Forget public transport, its non existant, hire a car with Uk license till you get your visa then you have the option to hire or buy, how much is it to purchase a car....type year etc pick up small say 2006/7 Peugeot 307 for 15k or 2006/7 4x4 for say 40 taxi fare would be around 40-50dhs each way at a guess

Once you have your full residency you can obtain a Dubai driving licence and then you can buy a car. As Rowell says you can hire one before that, but do get an International Driving Permit (easy from major Post Offices or the AA).
