Default Commonwealth games

Looks like the emerging superpower is having a bit of a setback getting things finalised in Dehli, bridge falling down and sub standard accommodation. I think they will have to push ahead with the event now but it will just highlight the level of corruption that the region has to face, shame really as it should of pulled out all the stops to ensure its success.

I don't think it is a given that the games will go ahead. If enough athletes complain about the state of affairs they may well be cancelled. If it is cancelled it will be a massive blow to India's reputation, but like you say it does illustrate the corruption that has to be dealt with in the region. The shootings earlier in the week didn't help either of course.

BBC Sport have posted some pictures on their website and it is not looking good.

Athletes pulling out already citing health and safety concerns, don't blame them.

Yes this is not great, although I think it will go ahead. I hope so, because a lot of money and effort has gone into this, and it will be a shame if it is all for nothing. A lot of people would have worked hard on this, people who are not to blame for the problems. It seems like it is mostly down to poor planning - everything should have been finished way in advance.
