Of course. I know that a lot of stuff I say can offend people, so I mind what I say depending on who I'm with. When I'm in the company of Arabs I don't slag off the Gulf region or say that I think they can't drive. A microcosm of Political Correctness, if you like.

Well I was once beaten up in Boro (Smoggy bastards...) for being a Geordie, but never had a problem in Newcastle, Sunlun or Shields.

Not at all...I take that on board too.
I didn't say it was exclusive to race, but it is far more prevalent, far more to ethnicity in the UK.
But personally, maybe because of my upbringing, wouldn't call someone jock, taff etc unless I was sure they were comfortable with it. And most likely wouldn't call them it at all

Unfortunately there are a majority of people who dont accept this. These people exist in all communities in the UK.
Nasty people are nasty people because they are nasty. Not because they are black, white, yellow etc.

There's definitely a generational thing, in my experience, and the casual racism of some people is astonishing. One of my older relatives comes out with some shocking phrases, like fuzzy-wuzzy and nig-nogs. They see nothing wrong with it.

To show the change watch a couple of the first episodes of only fools, or even better on the busses, that shows the difference to what's perceived as acceptable then and now.
