Cheese & Pickle Shop

I have heard there is a shop in Abu Dhabi called 'The Cheese & Pickle Shop'. Does anyone know where it is?

Also, as much as Abu Dhabi and Dubai are places where you can get most things and can do a lot of things (e.g. skiing in the desert), I have so far failed to find a half decent cheese board. I have heard the Westin Hotel in Dubai has a walk in cheese fridge (or 'chidge') and will try it out, but does anyone know of anywhere I can find good cheese?!

Between my toes there is some pretty strong cheese.

I'm normally pickled.

Does that work for you???

If you have arrived from the UK recently, the price of cheese may well be one of the things that stuns you............

It's available but it's not the best quality, and is very expensive.

Sorry.

What a peculiar thread. There is plenty of good cheese available in the supermarkets. We pay AED34 per Kg for Cheddar, AED40 per Kg for Red Leicester and y/day bought some Danish Blue for AED39 per Kg but the quality stuff can get quite expensive.

there isn't plenty of good cheese available here...i would hardly class cheddar (certainly the stuff you get here) or red leicester as "good cheese"...

shandolier, the only place i've had decent cheese here is at reflets...even the verre cheeseboard is sadly lacking...there's a winebar in wafi called vintage that is meant to specialise in cheese, but it's all kept chilled and isn't anywhere near the quality you'd get at home...

I agree MM. Shadya, the supermarket stuff is/was crapola-in AD certainly.
Shandolier, I recall the C&P shop as being on 7 near either 26 or 28 but it's not exclusively a purveyor of truckles etc.
Funnily enough, the best cheese I ever got was from Duty free exiting AD.

I was told about a cheese room in The Westin that sounded really good. Also there is some cheese "guru" in residence at Oscar's Wine Bar at the Crowne Plaza this week...

I hate seeing posts about food as it puts ideas in my head
Now craving crumbly white Lancashire on toasted granary bread smeared with full salt lurpak and topped off with a thick layer of full size chunk branston pickle. Lovely

Yet another day when the cornflake diet is going to die a death. In fact its only survived about 2 days in the fortnight I have been on it. Bugger:(

Yeah you're right, corner of 7th and 26th backside of that huge buillding site. Don't get too excited though Shandolier, it's basically a laban shop....

Spectrum on One (Fairmont in Dubai) has a cheese & port room. I reckon every home should have one.

agreed pet, the cheese here is TERRIBLE, the cheddar is all soft and bendy, and there's just hardly any good stuff around at all.
