Car Ownership and Residency

Car Ownership and Residency
I've lived here for 3 years with residency provided by Company 'A'.
Resigned from Company 'A' in april '06 and joined company 'B'.
Six months later a decent enough offer to return to company 'A' was received which I took. (knowing all the dramas about bans)
Anyway, my current work permit is to be cancelled and I will be effectively on a visit visa i believe until april when i can get a new visa (1 year after joing company 'B').
My question is - Can I still drive the car I own and is it still insured while I reside here on a visit visa (or indeed is my residency still intact).
I don't really want to ask the insurance company just yet.

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I thought that providing you have a UAE driving license, then you are insured. Why don't you check with your insurance company, and get them to put it in writing?

And I thought you had to be a resident to drive a private car...
so many stories, never a transparent answer.

Re: Car Ownership and Residency
You can also drive a private car on a temporary UAE licence but not on your own British or whatever licence. So theoretically if you still have your UAE licence then shouldn't be a problem - although might invalidate insurance if residency is not current.
In fact after re-reading OP I would go to traffic dept and ask them - as they could then canx your original driving licence and re-issue a temp licence for 6 months
Ohhhh 2nd edit not sure if you can own a vehicle without residency permit.
In fact probably just ignore what i've just said

You cannot own a car without residency. You can drive a private car on a temp license.
