I have been offered the option of having a hire car provided by the company i am working for or a allowance of 18,500 per month, I do not know the in's and out's of the law regarding insurance etc.

Would it be best to let the company deal with the car or is it worth taking up the 18,500 per month? What would i be able to hire in that price range? is it worth the hassle?

please make 1000% sure that you're actually going to get SAR18,500 PER MONTH as a car allowance. i really, really doubt that's the case.

(it would be like being paid GBP4,000 a month with a car allowance of GBP6,000 = just does not make any sense)

i know that it's the magic kingdom and all and that things are a little different here, but when a 4x door, V8, gas guzzling comfortable sedan (chevy caprice) here is about SAR130,000 to buy a year, SAR18,500 a month is just stupid money. also, i doubt they're doing it as a way of paying-you-without-paying-you as there's no tax or remuneration laws/accounting tricks to try and get around. (unless you're a US citizen - different kettle of fish that...)

please check again, could be lost in translation (month in arabic sounds like shahr and year sounds like sana)

In the contract it does state " You will receive a Car Allowance of SAR 18,500 per month or a car will be provided"

Must be a typo, will need to look into it! Oh well....the ferrari will have to wait
