15 to 18 hour working day
Average salary Dh2,000
Fined Dh700 for missing a telephone booking
Fined Dh1,000 for accident

http://archive.gulfnews.com/articles.../10007571.html

Or with Metro Taxis:

They have to pay Dh235 per day in rent for the cabs, plus their own fuel costs
Average monthly salary Dh1,500
Can be fined Dh5,000 for an accident

So if they're fined so much for accidents why is it they're all such bl00dy useless drivers?

I 2nd it........good for them !!

However we should get a free ride for a smelly cab or driver, or a driver that doesn't know his blinkin' way

The 18 hour days, seven days a week might not help with concentration levels.

And remember - they're working those hours and still earning hardly anything.

It's criminal that in a place like Dubai they can charge a taxi driver more than a thousand pounds a month to rent the car.

Yes i totally agree, also there is the fact that these companies are putting peoples lives at risk allowing them to drive for such long hours it is rediculous.

This Companies need to be held accountable!

I have lost count of the amount of times i have had to direct the drivers as they do not know where they are going....

You didn't miss something - the newspaper itself missed the fact that calling yourself 7DAYS is a bit erroneous when you only have 6 editions a week...

(don't know why I am even bothering to reply...)

If something happens on a Friday then in 7DAYS you might read about it on Sunday (as Saturday's edition doesn't exist). I know papers around the world don't always print an edition everyday but to call your news paper 7DAYS would seem to indicate that you might print an edition 7DAYS of the week... If they were just wanting to remind us all that there are, indeed, 7DAYS in a week then they have managed to do this fine.

That being said if anything of any importance happened I would not be relying on 7DAYS for the most balanced, impartial, factual or up to the minute facts anyway...

when they started the news paper, lets say it was on friday! so on that friday the news that was shown or printed was actually from thursday

so that means the 1 day that you miss the news in 7days is from the day of start of news.

Suppose its only the same as the "Daily Mail" - not really daily as only 6 days a week with "Mail on Sunday" being on Sunday Are we all seriously bored or what
