Default Cancelling Iqama

I recently left Saudi Arabia and my employer has not yet cancelled my iqama and this is causing a problem for me getting a new Resident Permit in another country. Can I cancel this myself or does it have to be done by my employer?

done by your employer, you should have gotten a final exit visa from saudi before you left. then your iqama is cancelled and you are free. going through it myself at the moment

Did you leave without the agreement of the employer by any chance? Reason I'm saying is that companies are usually very diligent in cancelling visa (and iqama) at the same time you exit the country as they are liable for your "sins" while you are still under their sponsorship.

I take it you are applying for residency in another Gulf state as these are the only ones who care about residency status in Saudi, so maybe they are punishing you for leaving by not cancelling the iqama...
