Camping!
 

Looking to go camping for a night next Sunday. Camp fire/BBQ/Stop over...that sorta thing - nothing too grand :)

Any suggestions for a nice place that doesn't require off-road skills (although we shall most likely be using a 4x4).

Somewhere 1-2 hours max from Dubai...would be ideal

Anywhere will do so long as you are nowhere near any landfill sites or septic ponds, but arm yourself with plenty of insect repellant as a precaution.

Wadi Bih in Oman is great for camping. Drive to Dibba (1.5 hours), go through the border into Oman, and drive up the nearest Wadi. It's a spectacular drive. You can either camp up in one of the plateaus, or come back down and camp on the beach.

You might want to keep away from the wadi's now when camping as it is rainy season...unless you camp in kiyaks of course :D

Hi-newbie here! (not British but hubbie is)
Im first time poster so excuse me if this question is posted on wrong forum or already answered, tried to search for answer but cant quite get it right so I hope you don’t mind me asking….
We are thinking of driving to Wadi Bih tomorrow for a day trip (if its doest rain) but Im researching on internet and came across some info saying Wadi Bih is closed from Ras Al khaima side? Basically you can get up to certain point but not all the way thought to Dibba? Anybody been there recently and can advise if this is the case or not?

How wise have those words turned out to be! Have abandoned the idea in light of recent downpours and forecast for more ....will await New Year me thinks:)

Yes, you can only enter Bih at Dibba; you (drivers and passengers) would need a passport or egate card and soft words to exit at RAK.
As Norm says - a good place to keep away from in wet weather.
Also, the ‘road’ is likely to be impassable for the next three-months or so. The authorities are unlikely to begin re-grading until they are sure the rain is over.
