Default Camel Spiders

According to Yahoo UK, a family in Essex has been driven out of their home by a camel spider, which bit their pet dog to death. The spider, which grows up to 6ins long, evidently hid in the personal effects of a soldier returning from Afghanistan. They have them in the UAE too I believe...not that I am trying to deter any of those thousands of Brits flying here to find work.

We've been in ME 15 years and have yet to see a camel spider, we go wadi bashing, camp out, dune bashing etc.

I know they are out there but . . . . .

So how does a camel spider manage to bite a dog to death?

Well boviously they are out there, but I don't think they are worth panicing about too much - we have 5 dogs and 4 cats and none of them have been bitten by anything - I think this a very rare occurence.

There was a thread on here once before with a picture of a man having had his hand bitten off by one!

Are people still so dumb as to think that camel spiders are dangerous?

I guess so...
