Default Buying a second hand 4x4 in Dubai

Hi,
looking to buy a second hand 4x4 in Dubai in February.

Not a luxury one, just a standard Kia, Rav4, type thing.

Any tips/advice on where to start?
And also - can you get finance on a second hand car?
I will have just moved to Dubai then so won't really have a credit history so to speak.

thanks
Gavin

Only 2 rules,

1. Never buy a second-hand car from a local
2. NEVER EVER buy a second-hand car from a local

I bought my Jeep from Western Motors in Al Ain. I was very happy with the service. When I first enquired about it, they bought the car all the way from Al Ain to my office in Dubai on a truck so that I could look at it

Also try Al-Futtain Automall. They have several locations in the UAE.

Lots of used cars and 4x4's. I bought a top spec Scooby Forester there last year and got a free 3 year warranty plus free tinting plus free registration after a bit of haggling.

To get finance you normally need to be resident for 6 months.

Lightbulb Re: Buying a second hand 4x4 in Dubai

Good place to buy is the second hand car market in ras al khor
Don't buy a Kia, most rav 4 have been thrashed to death so be careful
The maximum finance term is a combo of vehicle age and loan term to a maximum of 8 years total.
Car finance is a total rip off though but all dealers can put you in touch with the banks or you can do it yourself.
Be prepared to write a frankly stupid amount of cheques
DON'T buy a car used by a local especially a Nissan patrol

its not that bad with the locals.

I guess to buy a used car in Dubai is in general not a good idea but worst is a car loan.

Depend on how long youre allready in Dubai, rent for the beginning and if you have the money to buy a new on in cash go ahead. If you buy cash you will have a good deal and if youre form the beginning evaluate the seeling (type of car) you will not loosa a lot of money.

I lost in 16 Months for an new fj cruiser 20 k AEd which is per month cheapper then rent a yaris.

Pay cash or rent!

Do a search on the forums regarding loans on cars and what happened a few years ago

Unless you are very secure in your future it may be wiser to rent

Try and find an expat selling a SWB Pajero. Reasonably affordable, reliable and also easy to off load in a hurry...

Porridge oats in the radiator, a pair of tights in the gearbox to shut it up, the thickest oil going to hide the whines and a quick haircut on the clock.
Anyway Jumerah Jane's parking skill usually means a multi-coloured paint job, and the interior has been wrecked by kids spilling fast food crap everywhere, and the seats are knackered due to a wide berth destroying them on the way back from brunch (hic!)

Use the website Dubizzle there are plenty on there. The owners usually mention if they are expats.
