Default Buying Land In Dubai

Hello everyone, I've been here for around 6 weeks now, and am looking to build my own villa, when I say I'm going to build it what i mean is I'm getting contractors to build it to my architect's design.

So, how do I go about buying a plot of land around say Meadows in which to build my unique place?

I've tried estate agents, Emaar etc. no-one seems to know, and I can't just get a plot in Jumeriah as I'm not a local.

Any ideas?

Thanks

PTF

It's a UK architect, cos I was going to build the place in the UK originally (It's sort of an Addams Family gothic pile), but now I'm here I thought i might just try to build it here.

If I can't then I'll end up in a box somewhere!

I see. Just make sure he knows his stuff.

What is the design like?

I don't think Emaar will let you flatten the Meadows btw!

As I said, it's 3 storeys, dark and gothic with a bell tower.

I think it'd look great overlooking the fairways at the golf club!!

I see ... no probs at all .. in fact, build 100 of them and sell em on for a fine profit. I can just see them being really sought after.

Well lets face it if people live in the shoeboxes in Springs etc, you'd have thought a gothic pile would be just up there street, I mean, there's an eiffel tower being built for flats, so, this has got me thinking now, let's see there's sports city, internet city, how about Hammer House Of Horrors City.

Sure to take off!

Internet City is for offices dear

If I were you, I'd take your plans (no matter how shoddy they look, it is Dubai afterall) and bring them along to his Highness and see if he will finance it for you.

Nope. Expats are not allowed to own land, even the freehold only entitles you to the bricks and mortar but not the land.

So no...you could not just knock it down and build another.
