Hmm.....food for thought.
Does sound rather tricky. May go down the sell it in the UAE route then. May get the old man to do a little research the UAE end to see if he can arrange export bits and bobs before I totally rule out the idea. 10,000 riyals wouldnt be too much because I would be getting the car so cheap. It's an r32 which I have had a lot of fun in and would love to have it!
Warranty is long gone, think its a 2006 model so getting a little long in the tooth, especially by gulf standards. Absolutely love the car though!

Oh dear!
Please dont say i'm going to have to go for something with american style suspension settings to survive!
I am an unashamed petrol head and the thought of driving a water bed round for the next few years is disheartening to say the least!
Does anyone know if lusail does arrive and drive track day sessions? Wont be an issue at first as I'm sure Hertz wont appreciate me spanking a rental lancer round there!

Ah, the rental Lancer, and the rental Sunny for that matter, fond memories...
The first time you realise these vehicles aren't equipped with ABS, and that the tyres have around 10psi air in them as standard, is about two seconds before your first rear end shunt on Doha's shiny polished roads.

You'll have plenty chance to practice on the roads here before you hit the circuit .
The only thing that cuts the mustard on these roads is an Apache Helicopter Gunship , preferably with plenty ammo !

Cayenne's are only driven by women here, an older X5 will start at QR75,000 for something that wont kill you, X6 QR150,000 for one thats done some space travel and Q7 Bit less than that.
-Dont forget you also have tuareg's which are also reasonably priced and not a yank tank.

I had considered a touareg actually.
They look like they can be picked up for sensible money on the second hand market.
Never had a 4x4 before, all my cars have been a little lower to the floor. But knowing the region it does seem the off roader is king. So when in rome i suppose........

how much would a low mileage well maintained/specd touareg cost?
Ive driven the 2.5 diesel here, not a great engine!
Wouldnt mind spending up to 150,000 QR on a well specd low miles X6 if it can be had?

A Toyota LC Prado can be had for new for around QR128k (2.7L petrol), which is a popular choice and reasonable in-country aftersales service if/ when you need an accident repair. Or the cheaper Toyota Fortuner starts at about QR105k and is also a popular choice.
Remember that Doha is a small, congested city so you won't get much fun out of a supercar here, unless you travel to Saudi for weekends!

You dont have to worry about that shite engine here, V8 only.
Check the sites quoted before qatarsale and carsemar have oodles on there.

luckywise i have a fortuner as company car and even if i hate the car is a very good choice for Doha. Big which keeps you alive here!
got a camry for a week and its bloody dangerous in such a small car here.
My advice will be any 4x4 SUV Toyota or NIssan. For fun buy a pure racetrack car.
Porsche or in general German SUVs will have high maintanance costs. I ruined my brakes complete within 8k kilomters plus brocke the suspension. Here its only full throthle in and out of the roundabout until 150+ and smashing the brakes into the next roundabout or the traffic jam in from of the roundabout. Plus plenty of holes here in the streets.
Wihtout SUV no passing the traffic ****up on the sand besides the road. will cost you ages if you need to stick to the road with an R32!!
