Hi everyone.

Does anyone on this forum have any contacts that can help with business visas in southern iraq, preferably the Basra area?

The local rules seem to be always changing and my company is finding it very hard to get business visas for our staff.

If anyone here can point me in the direction of companies local to Basra or even based elsewhere in the middle east, then please PM me.

You need to get a local partner with sufficient Wasta (influence and contacts), are you processing Visa`s in country or before employees arrive??

We can only source tourism only visas currently since Iraq has changed where you can get visas from.
The visa processing is now done in Baghdad rather than in Dubai or Basra.

Many companies are having the same problem in the southern region of iraq.

All our locals partners seem reluctant to go to Baghdad to acquire visa contacts.... you can imagine why given the recent security issues!

When I was working for Basra Gas Company (Shell) in Iraq last year, i believe it was Olive Group in Dubai who were arranging our business/work visa invitation letters - they were taking ages to come through though, up to 12 weeks.
