Burj Dubai facing 9-month delay
Burj Dubai facing 9-month delay
by Tamara Walid and Dylan Bowman on Monday, 09 June 2008 The Burj Dubai will now not be finished until August or September 2009, Alabbar has said. The Burj Dubai is facing up to a nine month delay and is unlikely to be finished until August or September next year, Emaar Chairman Mohammed Alabbar revealed on Monday. Alabbar told reporters in Dubai that the world's tallest building may not be completed until "August or September 2009". <<snip - got a link?>> |

Re: Burj Dubai facing 9-month delay
pretty obvious to all that the burj was going to be delayed..
a lot of the outside glass is still only just being put on.. |
Re: Burj Dubai facing 9-month delay
I like the way they put the blame squarely on the striking labourers.

Re: Burj Dubai facing 9-month delay
I wouldn't be surprised as it isn't even close to being weather-proof so they can presumably only then start the internal work...on 160 floors?!
Oh and opening the Dubai Mall in September is also looking like a struggle seeing as half the roof is missing? |
Re: Burj Dubai facing 9-month delay
a roof? mere trifles...

Re: Burj Dubai facing 9-month delay
Let's be honest here, it's going to end up being a one-year delay. Makes sense really, a completion date of (say) New Year's Eve 2009 allows them to make more of an event of it.

Burj Dubai will likely only hold the record for 2 or 3 years.... |

It's getting silly now. I found a link to some other tower they're thinking about building - The Al Jaber tower, which will be 1800m high.
