British International School Riyadh

Anyone with kids there? Reading the Ofsted it seems pretty good and the GCSE results are well above the average in the UK. But are there some drawbacks too? They seem to have a very very long summer holiday. Is the school day shorter too? I lived in Cyprus and started at 7am finished at 1am, is it similar? I have looked on their website but it doesnt structure a 'normal' school day. Anyone?

If you are British and you are going to live in Riyadh, BISR is what you want to go for. However it wont be a case of just turning up. They will probably have waiting lists, so you need to apply early.

There is no comparable alternative.

They had a (very good) new Head a Year or so again, but I believe he has now left and there is another one due/now in situ.

Hello,

My Kids started School in British school riyadh just today.

The normal school hours for most classes from year 2 onwards is from 7:50 am to 2:40 pm. for the younger ones the school finish at 1:10 pm.

from the face of it the school looks pretty good and comparable to a private school in the UK. Although the non working days including the holidays seems to be very high. I was just calculating and its about only 48% of the days in the year the kids go to school.

Lets see how it goes for the rest of the year.

Cheers
