Hi,

Have imported two Dogs into Dubai from the Uk, would imagine the requirements are pretty much the same.

Your first port of call is DEFRA in the UK for issuing The Health Certificate in conjunction with your Vet.

A Vet that is experienced in dog Export is essential, it can be quite stressful getting all the timelines right.

Microchipped, Annual Vaccines up to date, Rabies Jab, Blood test ( showing that there are enough antibodies in the blood from the rabies jab.

Bought a Sky kennel yet ?...if not I can highly recommend this company..

Info from http://www.parair.co.uk/export-from-uk/middle-east.html

Saudi Arabia

A rabies vaccination is required at least 30 days and not more than 12 months prior to export. Dogs and cats require a DEFRA Export Health Certificate which must be completed by an LVI Veterinary Surgeon (Official Veterinarian of DEFRA) not more than 96 hours prior to shipment. All documents must be legalised by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and also by the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in London prior to shipment. We have an account with the FCO and so are able to attend to this on your behalf. An import permit is also required prior to shipment and this can only be obtained once the legalised documents are forwarded to an agent in KSA. Dogs must be imported as guard dogs to protect their owner's property and some breeds are banned so please check the list with Par Air Services. Air travel kennels are manufactured in our own workshops and each kennel is tailor made to suit your pet's measurements which ensures maximum safety and comfort during the journey.

Ouch....at having all documents legalised !!....didn't have to do that for Dubai...

If you intend to bring them over, make sure you've sold a vital organ or taken out a second mortgage to pay for it, and then use ParAir as linked to in a previous post - they really do take the stress out of it. There's certain things you will not be able to do yourself like getting the vet certs stamped, legalised etc etc. Also, get a rabies titre test done BEFORE you leave the uk. If this is done before you leave the uk, it means that if and when you return to the uk your dog does not have to enter quarantine (assuming all other jabs are up to date).

However, I will advise now that Saudi is no place for any kind of animal. Poor, restrictive vet care, varying supply and availability of dog food. Hot, dusty, dirty and full of ringworm. I would seriously think twice about it. I shipped my cats out here two months ago, and I'm sending them back in the new year.

But if you still want to export the poor sod, pm me and I'll go through each step with you

Tougher bringing them to KSA than to other GCC states.

Have a look at one of the threads over on Dave's ESL Café

Hi
We brought our 2 Labradors to Riyadh. Our UK vet took care of pet passports and jabs, we used Airpets but suggest you contact them all and see whom you like best.
They have adapted very well to life here and we found a great vet. Tinned dog food in the supermarkets can be an issue although dry complete mix is readily available. We also found a couple of decent pet shops that stock tinned all the time.
It's not cheap to bring them out but they are part of the family and giving them away wasn't an option.
If you need more help drop me a mail.

Cheers

The Saudi Humane Society (facebook) or Saudipaws.com are always looking for homes for dogs. There is a sweet dog needing a home right now at the Saudi Humane Society - call Aahd 0561805258
