Default Bring dog to Duabi

Well we are still looking into moving to Dubai after my husband was head hunted. He has been working there for a year and coming home to UK for a week every month. This job would involve us all moving out but we have a beloved dog. We have had our chocolate lab for 7 years now and if we came we would want him to come too. I have done a little looking and it seems Dubai is not very dog friendly. What is it like out there? Long walk?

I'd recommend not bringing your dog. I have seen a large number of dogs go mental after flying..properly psychologically disturbed. I've always given away my previous dogs when moving. This is just my personal opinion based on observation.

Also, I hear Duabi is great this time of year.

You're right that it's unfortunately not a dog-friendly place. Dogs are banned from all public beaches and parks, and they have to be on a lead at all times when you take them for a walk, there are no public areas where they are allowed to run free. You can take them out into the desert and let them run, nobody's going to bother about that, but obviously that's not so great during the summer.

Supposedly there are some parks in gated developments where dogs are unofficially allowed off the lead, and there's meant to be an unofficial "dog beach" somewhere as well, but there's always a risk of these things being discovered and clamped down on.

The developers here really don't care; when Jumeirah Beach Residence opened, initially dogs were welcome and there were plans to build a dedicated dog park. Then the developers ran out of money and couldn't afford to build the park (or the beach parks they'd promised), so they promptly banned all dogs - in fact all pets bar goldfish - from JBR. Never mind that people had bought apartments there on the understanding that dogs were allowed. That's the mindset you have to deal with here.
