Beware driving during Iftar
http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-n...roads-deadlier
DUBAI // Drivers have been urged to exercise extreme caution behind the wheel during Ramadan and to take particular care in the early evening hours as people rush home to break their fast with iftar.
The institute says fasting can cause temporary low blood sugar and dehydration, which in turn can result in tiredness, impatience, headaches, faint-headedness and loss of concentration - a lethal cocktail for any driver.
He said a lack of concentration could lead to drivers missing road signs or exits, abruptly changing speed and switching from lane to lane.
In other news when it rains you get wet.

In Saudi the driving during Ramadan was actually better. I guess they were so tired from the fasting that they couldn't be arsed with all the aggressiveness..

There are a lot more accidents around Iftar time, take the usual lunatics and starve them for 13 hours with no water, light fuse and stand back!

I'm so glad that I'm working from home until the new office opens after Ramadan.

Same here. I's like to see my son grow up so I usually avoiding getting in the car from 1pm until Iftar because the madness starts quite early. Lucky for me I make my own hours and simply adjust accordingly. I'd hate to have to report to an office everyday and face the madness.
We're already six times more likely to die when involved in a road accident in the GCC than we are in Europe/UK (WHO stats) so I can imagine the odds are even better during Ramadan.
