I heard Wednesday's holiday (Ascension of the Prophet) was moved to Thursday to allow a 3-day weekend...?

hope so mate, my company website says thursday but I reckon it'll be changed.

oh yes a holiday will be good but for those who like a drink, there's the issue of the dry day to consider. Doesn't really bother me in Sharjah, every day is dry day

I believe that Wednesday is the actual day of the holiday (subject to the moon), but many organisations are taking Thursday to make a long week end.

Either way, Islamic holidays are sunset to sunset aren't they? So Thursday evening should be OK regardless.
