Hi all,
Any advice on banks in Qatar?
What do I need to open one and which ones are the best for internet banking?
Thanks

Im doing ok with Commercial bank.
But it is better to ask your colleagues, since banks have different perks depending on your sponsor.

Banking is notoriously crap in this part of the world and you'll find heartache whoever you bank with but take you're pick from
Commercial / QNB and if you must HSBC . Just expect to be messed around , no customer service , transactions going missing and all the usual incompetent shite that happens here.
You'll need a salary cert from your sponsor and Qatari ID , you can open a deposit account without these if awaiting your RP .

HSBC / Commercial Bank / Mashreq.
It is always best to check with your employer. The bank won’t provide you facilities such as loan or credit cards if your employer is not listed in the bank.

I used HSBC at the time, but don't expect the standard of the worldwide HSBC - it is just a franchise in Qatar....I would say QNB is better.

QNB do a decent air miles scheme for your current account and credit card tied in with Qatar Airways. I’m with HSBC and they haven’t set the word alight, but also haven’t done anything particularly wrong (yet)...
Probably not an awful lot of help i’m afraid.

I use Commercial Bank with no problems, QNB would be my second choice and HSBC the last choice. The most headaches I have from customers are the HSBC ones normally having been told something completely different to what they actually get.
