BBQ in Abu Dhabi
Hello
I have just moved to Abu Dhabi and am considering buying a BBQ. Does anyone have any pointers on where the best place is to go for one?
I have looked on the net but can only get dealers in Dubai.
I hope to use it as frequently as possible so will ideally be looking for a gas system (sorry, I know this offends the BBQ purists out there!)
Any help given will be rewarded with a large glass of punch and a steak of your choice.
Thanks
HC

Shame on you,
buy a Weber either way and you will be fine. I would rather eat fried Bangla than a steak off a gas braai but each to their own
Dubai garden centre on SZR was the cheapest in Dubai for Weber braais but more expensive for plants etc just to appease the flower lovers who can buy cheaper elsewhere
Buy anything else and it will be burnt out and in the skip in not time
You have been dutifully advised
Buy a weber 57 charcoal braai and be happy

All the supermarkets sell BBQ and most sell Webers like Spinneys, Park n Shop etc.
Gas is not a bar b q but an outdoor cooker. I mean why not just cook your food inside and take it out to eat?

I would like to put this into perspective, being English, having a burnt to a cinder sausage rammed into a stale bun with ketchup or a half cooked piece of chicken blackened to within an inch of it's life on the outside but pink in the middle is the very height of my nations BBQ etiquette. (we only get 2.5 days per year when you can BBQ) I see the error of my ways and will invest in something like a Weber...thanks for the advice.

Second ACE hardware. We bought ours from the one at Mina. There's a big one on Yas, next to IKEA.

Ace @ Yas. Picked up my dinky little green Weber there. Great for desert trips

Read the distructions with the Weber, don't buy charcoal out here and instead buy the briquettes. Buy a 57 and not a 47, buy the charcoal holders for indirect cooking, remember that 27 briquettes each side should equal 190 deg C and you can cook perfect chickens and lamb shanks and become a braai master. Hunts bbq sauce is a good marinade by the way

I once turned up to a desert trip BBQ with a number of southern hemisphere families with a disposable.
They were kind enough to talk to me but I could sense what they were thinking.
Great place to acquaint yourself with the art headcat.

The enjoyment of drinking a cup of tea is waiting for it to cool to the right temperature... much like the joy of a BBQ isn't the cooking or eating but getting it ready while you watch it with a beer in hand.
Buy a weber chimney starter and you can focus on the beer and not the task of starting a briquette fired BBQ.
