I have trawled through threads and not found an answer............

Simple question, Can I open a UAE bank account without my Visa?

A one word answer will suffice!

IIRC, Savings only with HSBC,maybe others....

Yes (you can, but just a basic account and not with every bank).

ADCB have a savers account that comes with a debit card. It is a good account for very basic banking. Lots of branches too.

also when MD comes out it is worth looking at NBAD ladies account. no charges for the 1st year and then 10dhs a month after that. they also give you a debit card that you can use internationally and as long as you have the funds in your account it works online too.:)

Yep.

HSBC gave me their middle account (I'm no peasant with a basic account but certainly not a 'premier' chap) and a credit card.

Got them on my second day in office (day 4 in Dubai) and didn't have a visa for 6 months (don't ask).

Oh and before I had my visa, they had upped my card limit by 30%ish because I was always paying it off.

Awesome place this. Proper secure credit.

I've always thought that you can't use a UAE issued debit card to shop online? :blink:

I haven't had a problem, but I haven't used it that often. a couple of times for something from the UK. I know it is difficult from USA but then they don't really like UAE issued credit cards either :)
