When I lived in Bahrain a few years ago, everyone had those Dreambox satellite boxes for their TV, so you could get all the networks illegally for like BD30 a year. They kept threatening to shut them down but never did (typical Bahrain). Are they still around now?

You can't get Showtime through the Dreambox any more - just a load of porn. Time to go legit and get a subscription....

true. no osn/showtime after they changed their encryption, but you can get football, films and porn...

When my family wasn't there it fully satisfied my viewing requirements..

(I've obviously already forgotten about the intermittent freezing, lagging, out of sync sound and frequent reboots of the box)

Is Showtime the only one which is blocked? I used to have Al Jazeera, Sky Italia, some Greek or Cypriot one which had loads of footy, and the South African one, M-Net. Do they have HD in Bahrain by the way?

How's the internet these days? God it was crap four years ago; any progress?

Yep those are the same channels. I dont think anything other than OSN is blocked. You can get a HD dreambox, but there are not very many HD channels from what i can remember. OSN have plenty of HD channels though..

Internet is expensive and you'll be lucky if you can get more than 8Mb speeds. You do have more choice in terms of providers and technologies now though.
