Hi all.

Can anyone share any details of the likely cost of hiring a driver, principally for taking and fetching the kids to school but occasional trips to the malls etc.

Do these hire on a monthly or per-trip basis? Any experiences much appreciated.

I am also looking to hire a driver to take me to and off work. Must have his own car. Does anybody have any experience in hiring a driver for this or a similar purpose in Bahrain?

Hire on a monthly basis would probably cost you 100BD upwards plus the car. If you want him to be a good and safe driver expect to pay more. If he provides the car expect to pay more. If he is a good driver and he provides the car expect to pay quite a lot..

There are private taxis around. Some of them are pretty good and will do work like what you are talking about on both a schedule and on an ad hoc basis. No idea of costs, but I expect you would easily spend 200BD a month doing this.

You can hire a car (like a Toyota Corolla or similar) for about 200BD a month and drive it yourself. Better option for all I think. Unless you don't have a license of course, but that apparently is dead easy to get in Bahrain.

Only realised after posting that the OP posted a month ago. Oh well maybe he's still interested. If not then it's done now so someone else might appreciate it..
