That's a Sun puntastic headline right there...

"Barmy Bahrain Bans Bacon"

"The bonkers Middle East state hits back at all things Danish, cartoons and now the lovely slices of smoked pig back are banned by barmy Bedouins...

The bronzed and highlighted, Smerf Dugknuckle, 32, originally from Dagenham said "We've had it so good for years, booze, beaches and lovely rashers. How we will ever manage to recover after a huge boozy brunch and a piss up without our cherished bangers and bacon fry ups I just don't know. It's becoming like a foreign country here now"

Was in the Gulf Hotel on Sunday. My son orders a Bacon Cheeseburger. Waitress brings out a four inch high bun with all bacon no beef..maybe they're trying to get rid of it before the ban..

By the way Spugsy, there was something in the news today that Greggs profits had fallen since you've moved to Dubai:

According to GFI, none of this has yet been ratified by the Shura Council ('Upper House'), but some proposals have been approved by MPs ("Lower House").

The article is worth reading - I'll try to find a link.................

........... nah, subscription only, but you can buy it at all good bookshops across the GCC (BHD 2, AED 20).

The article is headed "What price is worth it?". The underlying tone is that it will cause serious damage to Bahrain's economy if 'expatriate luxuries' are banned...........

LOL. I actually worked on that deal, one of my first after moving here (if they are referring to the sale in early/mid 2006 and no subsequent flips).

A FTSE listed media company...so that's your pension fund well invested then....

PS: don't remember a Peter Cooper as one of the shareholders...there were two Danish blokes and the private equity arm of a leading Western bank....
