England has changed so much . my point is who do you believe about the job market ? my builder friends are working form week to week . and this is summertime the busy season , what is winter going to be like ? |
Re: Back in the UK and NO WORK
Work has been crap in the UK for the last 6 months for everyone. I have friends who have been made redundant that are solicitors, marketing directors, builders, architetcs, you name it and it's effected every trade.
For me its been a tough year and I have had to reduce my fee for a lot of clients but have managed to stay busy, however I'm moving to Dubai because I think it's going to be tough for a good while yet and was offered a job on a plate. In my home town a new Waitrose has opened with 200 jobs up for grabs- they had over 1700 applicants and the majority of those are degree educated.... Renting has also gone up in London as more people are renting... I don't think its easy anywhere to be honest, and just keeping your job is a good thing even if you have to take a paycut... Re: Back in the UK and NO WORK
I think its bad all over. I am in the US and my neighbour has a lawn service and told me that the lawn company advertised for an assistant to help mow lawns for $8 an hour and they had over 50 people apply, some with degrees ... that's scary
