This site is BritishExpats most of whom are not Pakistani. Have you tried your fellow countrymen?

I know it's hard not to, but logic would suggest that you don't lie and you say where the birth actually occurred.

Even if you baby is born in Iraq it doesn't make him/her Iraqi. He'll have the same nationality as the parents so you get him a Pakistani passport. You still have to include the actual place he was born.

It's really rather logical.

The location of the child's birth is "Birth Location". It is irrespective of nationality.

(Although I'm struggling to understand why a Pakistani family working & living in Iraq, wanting to apply for immigration to Canada, would ask a "British" site for advice. Any information you get here will be very British oriented. Unless you have dual nationality with UK/Pakistan?)

Your former colonial masters would probably suggest that you tell the truth. Is that such a strange concept for you ?

Birth location is simply where you are born. It doesn't mean anything else in the circumstances you describe. Apropos of nothing, there are many iraqi canadians, though your child is a potential pakistani canadian.

I know that in certain American immigration procedures, place of birth is considered as important as the passport country, so maybe the OP is concerned about the child being considered eye-raki. But Canada may be different, and any discrepancy between the passport and birth certificate would create far more trouble than having place of birth as ""Baghdad"

Some countries, like Switzerland (and Iraq for that matter) will put the place of origin on a passport rather than the place of birth. AFAIK the Pakistani passport authorities will list the place of birth of the child, so that would be the Iraqi city where he was born. I highly suspect his place of birth will be of no consequence to the Canadian immigration authorities - it will be his citizenship that will count.

Boris is a passport-carrying US citizen so it doesn't surprise me that the US government might be cross if they found out he was declaring his income as required.
