Anyone lived in Lebanon?

A quick search shows there are very few posts on Lebanon.
For those well-travelled, experienced ex-pats, I'd be interested to hear of anyone who has worked there either after or prior to 1975, preferably the latter.
I worked in Beirut for some time from 1997, and could eventually share some of those amazing experiences.
Would be particularly interested to hear of anyone (scot47, gordon barlow etc) having worked or travelled to Lebanon prior to the outbreak of the 1975 civil war, to share their experiences.
An amazing country whilst I was there, and I'm sure even more so prior the 1975.

i was there in 1972 - passing through from Damascus to Cyprus. Even then, the signs were clear that disaster was ahead.

I first went to lebanaon in 1995 and I have done 3 other projects there since then, we had to leave in 2006. 1995 was a great time. I know plenty of lebanese who were there through the civil war - did not seem to stop them partying !!
