So there we have it, girls and women.
of course if one had to fill out forms, we would cross "male " or "female".
But do we "chit chat" with a female or male? Or with a man , woman,boy or girl?
Anyhow, doesn't matter. IMHO, it is only certain people who prefer to use the term 'female".

Besides, i never thought women feel odd when they are called females
