Any body else been stitched up by their landlord ?
Was just wondering if anyone else had been stitched up by their landlord in Dubai or if it was just us ? Interested in hearing your horror stories

I'm sure there will be plenty Kb - we opted to stay in our company accommodation - think that was probably the best decision we made

Guess so , we didn't have the luxury of company accommodation just allowance. Everything went well until we wanted to move out !

Did he stitch you up re your desposit?
So many people having problems with landlords saying they are moving back into the house, then the re-let the place at an inflated price.

Yup, you got it, gave the relevant notice verbal & written (acknowledged by him) then the day of the move the bloke turned around and said he knew nothing about us moving out, said we'd not given him any notice and he refused to give back the deposit, it wasn't a small amount. But it wasn't just about the money it was the principle of it.
Best one I heard when there was a woman I used to work with was renting a villa with her hubby, they kept getting huge DEWA bills and couldn't work out why, eventually to discover the meter for their house was also hooked up to the next door neighbours (mate of the LL) so they were paying DEWA for both villas, of course LL denied all and told them if they moved out they wouldn't get deposit back. They gave notice , moved out , went back to France !
